12.2.1 Nasal Congestion

Sympathomimetics (Vasoconstrictor)

Xylometazoline 0.1% drops/spray (TLS Green)

 

12.2.2 Nasal inflammation, nasal polyps and rhinitis

Antimuscarinics

Specific indication:

Ipratropium 0.03% spray (Rinatec®) (TLS Blue)

  • For use in the elderly only

 

Corticosteroids

Mometasone nasal spray (TLS Green)

Beclometasone nasal spray (TLS Green)

Betamethasone 0.1% drops (TLS Green)

Alternatives: (TLS Blue)

Budesonide nasal spray

Fluticasone furoate spray (Avamys®)

  • Mometasone or fluticasone nasal spray may be used in patients who experience adverse effects whilst using beclometasone nasal preparations

Specific indication:

Fluticasone nasal drops (TLS Blue)

  • Nasal polyps

Azelastine / Fluticasone nasal spray (Dymista®) (TLS Green)

 

Antihistamines

Azelastine nasal spray (Rhinolast®) (TLS Green)

 

12.2.3 Nasal staphylococcal infection

Mupirocin 2% nasal ointment (Bactroban Nasal®) (TLS Green)

Chlorhexidine 0.1% / Neomycin 0.5% cream (Naseptin®) (TLS Green)

 

Epistaxis

Specific indication: (TLS Red)

Bismuth subnitrate and Iodoform (BIPP®) paste

  • ENT only
