St Michaels hospital offer an emergency gynae clinic that can be accessed via the SHO on call. Please see UHBW Gynaecology Emergency Clinic - information for GPs which includes inclusion and exclusion criteria.
Women must be referred to the Gynaecology registrar on-call on bleep 3378 at any time of day or night. The gynaecology registrar will assess suitability and allocate an appointment slot for the next available clinic time.
Please print out an appointment letter for the patient and detail the time and date of the appointment.
The gynaecology registrar taking the referral will inform you whether the patient will be having an ultrasound as part of their assessment. Please tick the relevant box on the letter.
Patients having an ultrasound scan should attend Ultrasound Department, Level E, St. Michael’s Hospital, Southwell Street, BS2 8EG at the given appointment time.
Patients not having an ultrasound scan should attend the Ward 78 reception desk on Level C at St. Michael’s Hospital, Southwell Street, BS2 8EG at the given appointment time.
This is in addition to the Early Pregnancy Clinic.
The Gynaecology departments in NBT and UHBW share the rota for emergency gynaecology admissions on the following basis (correct as of 14/12/2023):
Weekends (Friday to Monday) work on a 4 week rolling rotation, with NBT covering 1 in 4 weekends and UHBW covering 3 in 4 weekends. The weekend rota to 8am Monday 30th December 2024 is as follows:
Bank Holidays
Christmas 2024 to be confirmed
Weekend ‘Major’ Take
NBT major take dates until 8am Monday 30th December 2024:
All other weekends throughout the above period to 30th December 2024 will be UHBW major take
