GP Care Urology Advice & Guidance

For all patients registered with a BNSSG GP Practice

The Urology A&G service run by GP Care is a platform to request advice on patients aged 18 years and older.

Please see the Urology A&G Steps (word doc) for guidance on how to submit a request via e-Referral.

Please process through e-Referral bypassing the Referral Service. Advice requests should ideally be typed into the free text window of the advice request body on e-RS rather than attaching a separate letter or Word document.  If you attach a Clinical Information Summary, please ensure it is named this, so that clinicians at secondary care can opt to look at it if they wish to turn the request into a referral.

Select one of the following options:

  • Urology Advice & Guidance - GP Care - BNSSG - NWV

Priority - Routine
Specialty - Urology
Clinic
- Erectile Dysfunction/Andrology
- Haematuria (not 2WW)
- (In) Continence
- Not Otherwise Specified
- Oncology (Established Diagnosis)
- Prostate
- Urinary Calculus

The Urology A and G service is receiving high numbers of referrals and kindly request that referrers check the relevant section of Remedy prior to requesting advice. In particular please consider the following before using this service:

  • Recurrent Non visible haematuria after normal investigations - please refer to the Haematuria section as patients do not usually need further urological investigations.
  • Haematospermia rarely needs referral- please refer to the Haematospermia section. If referrer is still uncertain then refer to clinic via eRS.
  • Consultant specific requests - these should be sent directly to the named consultant (outside of eRS) rather than via the eRS A and G service.
  • GP registrars should initially discuss referrals to this service with their GP trainer or senior colleague.

In order to get the best advice possible, please ensure you ask a clear concise clinical question. The consultants giving advice may not necessarily have easy access to test results and investigations so please also include these and all other relevant information with your advice request.
