The Specialist Community Neurology Service is led by a range of healthcare professionals who support patients with a neurological impairment. Our service can provide physiotherapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy with the support of therapy assistants to those with a neurological diagnosis across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
The service accept referrals for adults over the age of 18 years with a neurological disorder/disease e.g. Parkinson’s, Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Multiple Sclerosis, Huntington’s Disease, Spinal Cord Injury and more, who are unable to access outpatients and/or need a multidisciplinary team approach.
In North Somerset, a Multiple Sclerosis (MS) nurse is available to support people with MS to manage their disease as well as providing support and education to carers, health and social care professionals.

MS - Bristol & South Gloucestershire
Please note, there is no MS Nurse service in Bristol & South Glos. People with MS in South Glos and North Bristol can be referred for Physio and OT only via the Community Neurology Service Referral Form. Referrals for Neurology at Southmead hospital can be made via the patient’s GP. If MS nurse community support is needed for Bristol or South Glos, please call SPA via 0300 125 6789.
