Decisions 14th September 2021

At the meeting on the 14th September, the following decisions were agreed

 

New Drug Requests 

Approved

 

Candesartan (TLS Blue)

  • For migraine prophylaxis

Verapamil (TLS Red)

  • For cluster headache prophylaxis

Evorel Sequi (TLS Green)

  • For the treatment of menopausal symptoms in post-menopausal women who cannot have oral HRT. 

Selenase Oral Solution (TLS Red)

  • For selenium deficiency in patients with intestinal failure where additional selenium cannot be provided via parenteral nutrition.

Fibryga (Human Fibrinogen) (TLS Red)

  • For major obstetric haemorrhage

Prontoderm Foam (TLS Red)

  • For MRSA decolonisation for renal and transplant patients who did not respond or cannot comply to standard chlorhexidine or octenidine

Trurapi (Insulin Aspart) (TLS Green)

  • For new patients

Azathioprine  (TLS Red)

  • For ocular inflammation

Methotrexate (TLS Red)

  • For ocular inflammation

Shared Care Protocols

 

New SCPs

Nil

Updated SCPs

Mycophenolate motefil and mycophenolic acid (as mycophenolate sodium)

  • Updated to include neurological indications

Hydroxychloroquine 

  • Updated to include dermatology and rheumatology indications into a single shared care protocol.

Colesevelam

  • Vitamin K testing removed as no longer available on ICE. Clotting screen more appropriate which is already included in the shared care protocol. 

 

TLS Changes

 

Hydroxychloroquine

  • Hydroxychloroquine for dermatological conditions changed from Amber 3 months to Amber 1 month

Mycophenolate motefil (oral)

  • Mycophenolate motefil for dermatological indications changed from TLS Red to amber 3 months

Fidaxomicin for C. difficile infection

  • Fidaxomicin TLS change from red to amber no shared care. 

Macrogol 

  • TLS changed from blue to green to more accurately reflect the that Macrogol is first-line treatment for elderly patients for chronic constipation as well as faecal impaction

Sucralfate Enema

  • 2g/50ml enema TLS changed from TLS Green to TLS Amber no shared care

  • 3g/20ml enema TLS changed from TLS Green to TLS Red.

Aciclovir and Ganciclovir Eye Antivirals

  • TLS change to Amber no shared care on Adult Formulary.

Other Formulary Decisions

 

Sumatriptan (subcutaneous) for cluster headaches

  • Re-included onto the formulary
