At the meeting on the 3rd December the following decisions were agreed

 

New Drug Requests

 

Approved

 

Methoxyflurane (Penthrox®(inhaled) (TLS Red)

  • for acute pain relief for burns dressing changes reserved for patients where short and medium acting analgesia has not provided adequate pain relief

Methoxyflurane (Penthrox®(inhaled) (TLS Red)

  • for acute pain relief of moderate to severe pain for use in the emergency department 

Dexamethasone soluble tablets  (oral rinse) (TLS Amber 1 month)

  • for topical management of oral ulceration/ oral erosions and inflammation 

Fluocinolone Acetonide (Synalar®0.025% gel) (oral) (TLS Amber 1 month)

  • for topical management of oral ulceration/ oral erosions and inflammation

Estradiol gel pump (Oestrogel®) (topical) (TLS Green)

  • for treatment of meonopausal symptoms 

Zanamivir (intravenous) (TLS Red)

  • for treatment of severe/ complicated influenza A or B virus infection where there is suspected resistance to anti-viral treatments other than zanamivir and who are unable to take oral or inhaled medication 

Shared Care Protocols

 New SCP: Sodium Valproate for women of child bearing age

Rivaroxaban (TLS Red)

  • for preventing atherothrombotic events in people with coronary or peripheral artery disease as per NICE TA607
  • pending SCP for change to TLS Amber
