Topical Local Antipruritics

Recommended: (TLS Green)

Crotamiton (Eurax®)

Menthol in Aqueous cream 0.5%, 1% & 2%

Specific indication: (TLS Red)

Doxepin hydrochloride 5% cream (TLS Red)

  • Pruritis
  • For small areas only. Restricted to Dermatology
  • Doxepin cream can cause drowsiness that may affect skilled tasks and there may be a risk of sensitisation
  • For use in in localised neuropathic pain, specifically notalgia paraesthetica, brachioradial pruritus, and post-herpetic neuralgia see 4.5.3 for traffic light status information. 

 

Kappa Opioid Receptor Agonists

Difelikefalin (TLS Red)

  • NICE TA890 Difelikefalin for treating pruritus in people having haemodialysis
