Urgent & Non-urgent referrals

Urgent referrals to BCH Paeds T&O elective service (age 15 and under) are triaged by a consultant on a daily basis.

Routine referrals are triaged weekly.

Please can all referrals, even if they are semi urgent and involve an injury process (such as an acute soft tissue knee injury) be referred thought the elective service.  Any urgent cases will then be triaged into the appropriate clinic environment and also to see the most suitable consultant to deal with the problem.

There are no inclusion/exclusion criteria, only a clear and detailed referral letter please.

Patients aged 16 and 17 should be referred to adult services.

Refer via Paediatric Orthopaedic RAS - UHB RA7 on e-RS.

If the situation is very urgent, in normal working hours and the child requires immediate assessment, then refer to the paeds orthopaedic on call team via UH Bristol switchboard.

NBT do not offer a Paediatric T&O service. If any paediatric patients attend NBT ED any f/u or anything else that is required would be done at the children’s hospital.
