Community phlebotomy is a process for taking bloods on behalf of secondary care (when they have been requested on ICE by the specialist team). This is separate to the arrangements for domiciliary blood requests, which are undertaken by the Sirona Nursing Teams (see the Nursing pages for details)
Full details about Community Phlebotomy (Secondary Care Bloods) can be found on TeamNet: Community Phlebotomy (secondary care bloods) (clarity.co.uk)
Please ensure practice staff use the latest F12 protocol to code correctly according to the phlebotomy SOP found on TeamNet.
Please remember to check your ability to sample from both UHBW and NBT ICE systems. All practices should have dual licences in place as part of this work. The delegated request will be on the ICE system of the trust the patient is under, dated the day the patient was reviewed by the secondary care clinician.
If you have any problems with this process please get in touch with Digital@onecare.org.uk
