Smoking Cessation - Bristol

A new Targeted Support to Stop Smoking Service, delivered by Everyone Health, has been available since 1st  April 2020. Within the context of a wider Tobacco Control Strategy this service will focus on providing specialist evidence based support, treatment and advice for:

  • Pregnant women, their partners and family members that they live with
  • individuals with long term conditions that are made worse by smoking
  • individuals identified through NHS health checks and Physical Health Checks for people with severe mental illness
  • parents of preschool children

Referral for smoking cessation support

GPs have been notified that patients with long term conditions exacerbated by smoking can be referred from primary care. A referral form  has been sent to all practices in Bristol and should now be embedded in EMIS systems.

Patients can self-refer by texting QUIT to 60777 or by calling 0333 005 0095

Please refer people that are prescribed NRT to the NHS Smokefree website for a free personalised 28 day quit plan. Practices can also register with the Department of Health & Social Care Campaign Resource Centre  to order any free patient NHS Smokefree leaflets or booklets. Please note there is not any additional funding for patient follow up, only the digital resource for self-support.

For more information please see the Everyone Health flyer or contact the Public Health Business Team.
