Funding Policies for Orthopaedics

Introduction

There is a section headed Orthopaedics on the List of Funding Policies page on Remedy. These should be considered prior to referral to MSK services.

Orthopaedic Funding Policies

Criteria for referral and need for prior approval should be checked prior to submission of a referral. Referrals that do not meet criteria or are incomplete may be returned by the MSK triage teams.

  • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Surgery Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Chiropractic Assessment and Treatment - Exceptional Funding Request
  • Correction of Chest Wall Deformity for Cosmetic Purposes Policy - Exceptional Funding Request
  • Cosmetic Surgery or Treatment Policy - Exceptional Funding Request
  • Dupuytren’s Contracture Release in Adults Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • EXOGEN Ultrasound Bone Healing System Policy (Patients 18 Years & Older - Prior Approval
  • Forefoot Surgery in Secondary Care Policy (Patients 18 years and over) (including Bunions, Toe deformity, Morton's Neuroma & Plantar Fasciitis) - Criteria Based Access
  • Ganglion Removal Policy - Prior Approval Request (Via Sirona MSKI service only)
  • Open or Arthroscopic Femoro-Acetabular Surgery for Hip Pain including Impingement Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Hip Replacement Surgery (including Referral for Surgical Assessment of Osteoarthritis) Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Knee Arthroscopy Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Knee Replacement Surgery (including Partial and Total Knee Replacement with or without Patella Replacement or Resurfacing) Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Management of Low Back Pain and Sciatica Policy (over 16’s) - Criteria Based Access and IndividualFunding Request Policy
  • Open MRI Scanner Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) for the treatment of spasticity in Cerebral Palsy (children aged 3-9 years) Policy - NHS England
  • Shoulder Impingement Surgery for Subacrominal Pain Policy - Criteria Based Access
  • Referral for Assessment for Spinal Surgical Opinion Policy - Prior Approval Policy
  • Surgical Correction of the Fingers Policy - Prior Approval (Toe syndactyly is NOT funded other than by Exceptional Funding Request)
  • Surgical Correction for Trigger Finger in Adults Policy - Criteria Based Access
