Referral for review of post partum women up to 6-weeks post-delivery at Southmead Hospital

Starting on 22nd April 2025 - All women that have delivered at Southmead Hospital up to 6 weeks postpartum and require an obstetric review, must all be referred by calling the dedicated Maternity Telephone Triage line on 0117 414 6906 and selecting Option 2. This phone line can also be shared with women to self-refer.

Referrals/Calls should not be made into clinical settings.

Maternity Triage will assess them using the BSOTS (Birmingham Symptom Specific Obstetric Triage System) allowing a prompt standardised assessment that categories the care required into 4 categories allowing for those with the most clinical urgency to be prioritised.
