Overview

Vulval Skin Conditions

The PCDS website has advice on diagnosis and management of a variety of vulval skin conditions that are listed on the Genital Conditions - and overview page.

There are also specific pages on the following conditions:

Vulval Skin Care

This guidance on general care of the vulval skin was produced by Caroline Overton, Consultant Obstetrician & Gynecologist, St Michael's Hospital, UHBristol.

Please always refer to the BNSSG Joint Formulary for the latest prescribing guidance.

Red Flags

Patients with unexplained vulval lump, ulceration or bleeding should be referred via the Gynaecology 2WW pathway.

Referral

Secondary Care Vulval Skin Clinics

Both NBT and UHBW (St Michael's Hospital) have specialist vulval skin clinics. However, GPs are unable to refer directly to these clinics.  Patients should  initially be referred to the General Gynaecology clinic via eRS and, if required, they will be then be referred internally.

Advice and guidance

Alternatively, consider obtaining gynaecology advice and guidance via eRS

Unity Sexual Health

Patients with suspected genital infections can self -refer to Unity. See the Sexual Health Guidelines and Referral page on Remedy.
